Description

This query permits the identification of the top 3000 out of 23,000 genes that are either increased and decreased in expression in each of approximately 50 human cancer types. The higher or lower the Percent Change from Control (%CFC) values, the more markedly gene expression is increased or decreased, respectively, with neoplastic transformation. These query can identify oncoproteins and tumour suppressor proteins that may plays important roles in specific and general types of cancer. It should be appreciated that genes that are commonly induced in human cancers may actually be tumour-suppressor genes that are activated as compensatory measures to restore growth control, while other genes may required to support cell growth and proliferation in general.
